![]() The build up of the painting of Malaga Cathedral from Gibralfaro continues slowly. In tandem I am spending quite a bit of time sketching in pencil and charcoal, not for public consumption, one form of relaxation for me. This came about from rereading one of Harley Brown’s books. His free flowing portraiture is a great inspiration. I have started a small painting of The Trevi Fountain, Rome in the style of Edward Seago but using my own colours whilst retaining his viewpoint. You may recall I mentioned in my last sheet that I would acknowledge his 100th Anniversary. The painting is acrylic on canvas board 20 x 25cms. It’s coming along and I may do a larger version later. I will spend a few days in London in the spring gathering material for a series of London scenes that are favourites of mine. Some will be the more traditional tourist traps with; I hope (!) a different slant while others will be of well less known parts of London. I have everything crossed for good weather as I have a lot of ground to cover in a short period of time. If possible I want to get into a few galleries and museums to see once more some favourite items. The Tate is one that I have not visited for about fifteen or twenty years and I must have another long overdue look at the Turner works there. I hope there is a good selection on view. |
