Brian Reifer, an English painter of the more traditional Impressionist style, and his Wife retired to Andalusia, Spain in April, 2002. With their Golden Retriever, Chica, they live in Vélez Málaga where the paintbrush is still wielded but in a much more leisurely manner and painting now shares the hours of the day with other activities.
When he paints, street scenes are a particular interest; his urban work illustrates the life and energy of major European centres such as London, Madrid, Malaga, Paris and Venice. He complements these with the quiet and solitude of natural landscapes and harbours where boats rock gently at their moorings.
His favourite medium remains oils although his ‘en plein air’ work is usually produced in Open Acrylics and may be worked up into finished paintings in the studio. He is a keen draughtsman and produces a lot of pencil sketches as well as finished drawings.
He holds the occasional exhibition at local painting days or enters competitions and welcomes questions or inquiries.
His paintings are in private collections in Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom and the USA.
